Tea Party
Serve tea along with finger
foods such as scones, finger sandwiches, petite fours, etc...
Room of the House
Each guest is "assigned" a
room of the house and brings a gift to be used in that room.
Month of the Year
Each guest is assigned a
month of the year. This allows the bride to receive seasonal gifts that she
can enjoy throughout the year.
Around the World
Each guest is
assigned a country and must bring a gift associated with that country. For
example, "Scotland" gifts could include shortbread, a plaid pillow, a CD of
bagpipe tunes. Decorate with paper flags, maps, serve food from the various
countries that were assigned.
Color Shower
Decorate the shower
all in one color and have each guest bring a gift of that color. Serve food
in that same color. Try to pick a color that the newlyweds will feature
prominently in their home and match the color on the invitations.
Water Theme
Water is a flowing source of life essentials.
Each person can bring a gift related to water (i.e. cups or art or poetry
relating water to marriage.) The decorations should be in blue and green
shades. And the guests and couple can discuss all the symbolisms of water
for a marriage.
p.s. This would work great if one or both of the people marrying is a Pisces
or other water zodiac sign.
